Meet The Speakers: Elizabeth Batchilly

Elizabeth Batchilly is a research management professional and the current Head of Governance and Research Support services at Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She holds an MSc in Project Management from the University of Salford, UK and various training certificates in research management and research integrity. She has over 12 years experience in research management which spans from pre-award to post-award and performance management (KPIs and performance reporting). Adopting a culture of excellence is her mantra in the workplace.

She is an expert in developing procedures and work processes aimed at maximizing research output,ensure good governance practices without undue delays. She is experienced in managing multi-disciplinary teams and projects in resource constraint settings. Internationally exposed and apt in dealing with challenging situations and managing project performance. She is an expert in setting the strategic direction for research management offices for donor scoping, grants application and interaction with online grant application systems, research contracts, grants management, project management, and building networks. Her approach to research management is system-centred which focuses on building and harmonizing internal systems to break silos in the workplace, strengthen central research support functions to be focused on adding value to the scientific output of an institution.
