ESSENCE has led several innovative approaches to achieve harmonization and optimization of<br \/>\nresearch funding, including the development of a good practice document series covering a wide range of topics.<br \/>\nOne such output is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/tdr\/publications\/year\/2020\/five_keys_2020\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Five Keys to improving research costing and pricing in low-and middle-income countries<\/a><br \/>\n\u2018Five Keys\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The achievement of accurate costing that enables sustainable research institutions and programs is a challenge<br \/>\nfor many LMIC\u2019s, especially the recovery of indirect costs. In addition, fast-changing, technologically driven and<br \/>\ncompetitive local and global environments for research, research funding, and research management<br \/>\nnecessitate ongoing reflection and learning.
